STORIES BY ANDIE

WRITING PORTFOLIO

Throughout elementary school, I had an undeniable presence that would often land me in trouble. Relentlessly talkative, I loved to initiate conversations with everyone around me, even strangers who simply MUST learn how my brother fell off the stage during the fifth-grade play. I couldn’t help myself—I had an uncontrollable urge to lecture on the intricacies of my life.
It was a fatal flaw that had the potential to destroy any trace of my academic persona.
Thankfully, my loquacity started to become an asset in eighth grade, when my English teacher helped me realize that my need to talk was driven by a passion to communicate. I learned that a need to speak is complemented by a desire to listen. Writing then became an outlet for me, a calling that stayed with me through both high school and college,  revitalizing my academic and personal life.
